Senior Data Analyst – Ninja Analytics
Work Location: Ashburn, VA - 2 days in office & hybrid/remote

Ninja Analytics is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to lead the development and implementation of advanced predictive modeling solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for tasks such as data collection, mining, advanced analytics, clustering analysis, pattern recognition, automated classification, categorization, and entity resolution, all aimed at enhancing and automating risk assessment processes.

Our Customer:
Each day U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) oversees the massive flow of people, capital, and products that enter and depart the United States via air, land, sea, and cyberspace. The volume and complexity of both physical and virtual border crossings require the application of solutions to promote efficient trade and travel.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Collect, clean, process, and organize large datasets from various sources (e.g. databases, APIs, flat files) ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Perform exploratory data analysis using statistical techniques to identify significant trends, patterns, correlations, and anomalies.
- Develop and implement interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using BI tools (like Tableau, PowerBI, or Qlik) to track key performance indicators and model metrics.
- Project tasks include data collection, mining, data and text analytics, clustering analysis, pattern recognition and extraction, automated classification and categorization, and entity resolution to implement and enhance automated risk assessment.
- Construct data engineering scripts and processes to support recurring ad-hoc requests, AI/ML development and reports.
- Interpret analysis results and communicate findings and insights (e.g. mission impacts, limitations of findings/ analytical confidence, analytical methods and techniques employed) to both technical and non-technical audiences through presentations and written reports.
- Monitor data quality, investigate discrepancies, and contribute to the development and enforcement of data governance standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: AS and 4-13 years or BS and 2+ years or MS and 0-5 years or PHD and 0-3 years in Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Statistics or Mathematics.
- Experience working as a Data Analyst or in a similar role
- Strong proficiency in SQL for querying relational databases and performing data extraction and manipulation
- Demonstrated experience using data visualization and business intelligence tools like PowerBI or Tableau or Qlik.
- Proficiency using Python and related packages for development and analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in a programming language commonly used for data analysis, such as Python (with libraries like Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn) or R
- Knowledge or experience with data wrangling, cleansing, and machine learning development processes.
- Experience with statistical analysis techniques and tools (e.g. regression, hypothesis testing, clustering)
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms and services (e.g. AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, or Databricks)
- Understanding of data warehousing principles and ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) processes.
Clearance Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) suitability prior to starting this position.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time.
- Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel.
